The Great Canadian History Adventure:

Each month we will supply the text and illustrations for the history of one province for your child to build a Smashbook with.

Every monthly package includes personal research topics, critical thinking tasks, and printed design embellishments to be included in your album. Please note that Nunavut and the Northwest Territories have been combined.

How will I know what supplies to prepare for the monthly activities?

The Great Canadian Geography Adventure will provide some of the key supplies you child will need to complete the experiments and activities in their books.

However, in order for you to draw the full benefit from the curriculum,  we will send  a monthly email before the arrival of each learning package to allow parents/teachers to prepare for the activities of the coming month.

The Great Canadian History Adventure can be built on cardstock pages and either ring bound or placed in a binder. You could also build your Smashbook in a notebook.

Every month,  your child will receive the printed text, colorful illustrations, and embellishments that they can use to compile and decorated the Smashbook.

Parents can add additional embellishments and decoration supplies for each child from craft stores as they see fit.

What is the recommended age for each subscription?

  • Tiny Traveler: Children ages 5-6
  • The Great Canadian Geography Adventure: Children ages 7-12
  • The Great Canadian History Adventure: Children ages 8-14

Why is this a subscription service and not a published book series?

The series was written in a deliberate sequence to allow children to build on their earlier knowledge. Going through the books out of order might make it more difficult to build the deeper understanding of fundamental geographic principles and the historic timeline. We want to guide our children step by step through an adventure through Canada.

Can I change the order in which the provinces are sent?

No, the historic and geographic principles are sequential, and one book builds upon another. The books begin in Eastern Canada and continue westward.
